Easily Irritated Skin? Skin Care For Sensitive Skin

February 6th, 2010 · No Comments

Is your skin showing signs of redness and irritation after you’ve used a particular skin care product? If so, you probably have sensitive skin. Some symptoms of sensitive skin include: tightening or tingling of the skin, unseen signs of skin discomfort; overreaction of the skin to things like stress, shaving; and drying and recurring irritation of the skin. Certain skin care products aggravate these symptoms. So if you’re looking for tips on skin care for sensitive skin, read on.

If you have sensitive skin then perhaps it’s time you change your skin care routine. Read the label of your current skin care product. Does it have “hypoallergenic” or “for sensitive skins” written on the label? If not, dump it. Before purchasing any skin care products, you need to look out for labels that overtly mention the fact that it is safe for sensitive skin.

Read the ingredients list. Products that contain alcohol, chemicals, additives, and other synthetic ingredients may aggravate sensitive skin, so choose products that have natural organic ingredients like aloe. All natural or organic skin care products can be found just as easily as those containing alcohol, so it shouldn’t be a problem trying to find the right skin care product for sensitive skin in your local drugstores or department store cosmetics counter, or anywhere else that skin care products can be commonly found and purchased.

Now moving onto your skin care routine, it is advisable that you use a makeup remover before proceeding to wash your face. If you have sensitive skin, you should choose a makeup remover that is soap-free. Again, keeping the first point in mind, look out for products with labels such as “for sensitive skin” or “gentle on skin”. These would probably be the better choice for your sensitive skin, but should you have any doubts, clarify them with a knowledgeable sales assistant of the cosmetic department of the store.

Once you’ve purchased that new makeup remover, what you need to keep in mind is do not use a washcloth to apply it to your skin. This is because washcloths can be abrasive on your skin, especially on sensitive skins, and tends to irritate the skin. Use a soft cotton swab instead. Apart from washcloth, there are other abrasives that you should avoid, such as exfoliating scrubs with granules, no matter how tiny they might be. These granules can be too hard on sensitive skin, and you’ll risk irritating your skin more than exfoliating it. Consider a cleanser that contains salicylic acid instead to help exfoliate your pores.

It is important to protect your sensitive skin from sun damage, but some sunscreens aggravate sensitive skins so much that a lot of people decide to do away with sunscreen altogether. If you have especially sensitive skin, you should apply sunscreen daily to protect yourself from the sun, preferably with a minimum SPF of 15. Use a sunscreen that is a gel instead of an oil-based one, as it is less greasy. And to avoid skin irritation from sunscreens, use one that contains zinc or titanium dioxide as part of its ingredients, as these two are not absorbed into the skin unlike sunscreens that contain Parsol 1789, the chemical responsible for skin irritation in sensitive skins.

Skin care for sensitive skin is relatively easy these days, especially when you can find a lot of information on how to deal with the problem online.

How Radio Frequency Machines Can Help You Achieve Flawless Skin

February 6th, 2010 · No Comments

The cosmetics landscape has grown far and wide. There is a seemingly endless supply to different anti-aging products being offered. Cosmetic companies churn out anti-aging products on a regular basis, all targeted at rejuvenating our aging facial skin. But amongst this mighty cohort of anti-aging products, one product aims to supplant the all might anti-aging cream. Technology has evolved to the point where we have skin care machines that can help you achieve flawless skin.

Nowadays there are machines that offer alternatives to surgery. These machines use lights or wavelengths to correct any imperfections of the facial skin. These facial machines were designed for people that desire skin correction but are not willing to undergo invasive surgery. Light treatment-based facial machines have made cosmetic care more accessible to those reluctant to go under the knife.

The radio frequency technology mixes light with wavelengths to cure some facial imperfections such as pigmentation and other coloration problems that often occur with aging. Facial machines are not readily available in every skin care clinic but they are far from rare. You should have little trouble finding a clinic that has one. It is best to let a skin care professional to use a facial machine on you to get the best results.

Even though these machines should be used by professionals, there are many sites on the Internet that offer such products for the general public. When you are using a new skin care product, particularly a machine, it is always advised that you talk to a skin care professional beforehand. A professional will be able to tell you how good they think the product is and if they believe that it is safe for you to use. In the long run a professional’s assessment can prove vital.

Before you decide to go out and by yourself a facial machine, there are some things that you need to consider. You may think that this sounds like the perfect skin care treatment for you but you need to know what you are really getting yourself into. If the machine is used correctly you will see great results and better skin. In fact, some notice great results in the first couple of days.

However, such machines will yield varying results and consumer experience will differ from person to person. Some people may see results in a few days and some may see results in a week but some may see no results at all. However, when using consumer grade facial machines, you run the risk of making your facial problems worse. Fortunately, most consumers usually achieve positive results.

With the continuing advances in cosmetic technology, consumers are now offered more choices when dealing with cosmetic corrections. Consumers are seldom left with a one choice ultimatum. Before you decide that the facial machine treatment is right for you, you will want to do you own research and possibly talk to a skin care professional about the possible risks of using such techniques.

Microdermabrasion Treatments and scaring

February 4th, 2010 · No Comments

Science is a persistent pursuit of knowledge and betterment of human kind. By its permanent quest, it has opened new and novel horizons of discovery and invention. Science and technology wakes us up in the morning and help us till we fall asleep again. Everything from a tasty breakfast to a nice hot bath at night is due to virtue of science. Science has even found ways for the humans to look different-more beautiful, young, get the appearance you want. Microdermabrasion, laser surgeries, micro current therapies such as Bot-ox and RF treatment, if done all on a single person can change him completely.
Microdermabrasion is basically rather simpler than most of other cosmetic surgeries. It is done by removing( partially or completely) the dead outer skin by abrasion. Its main cosmetic purpose is the extermination of scars, extra hairs, old age effects( to some extent) and dark spots on the skin. If the scars are on the upper skin, then microdermabrasion is extremely useful as compared to other cosmetic treatments as the upper skin itself is removed in microdermabrasion . It is useful for pimples and black heads also but for them to be removed completely the process has to be done several times to create an effect.
Microdermabrasion is normally also considered a scar removal process if the scaring is minimum. If the scars are deep no amount of Microdermabrasion treatments will remove those.
There are different procedures for microdermabrasion, the conventional way is Crystal Microdermabrasion, in this process a jet of crystals of aluminum or zinc oxide are used, it is still widely used but has lost its berth due to the introduction of other procedures.

There is another rather important procedure of microdermabrasion, it is called diamond microdermabrasion and in this process diamond crystals are used along with normal type of crystals but it should still not be considered much better than crystal microdermabrasion. Another cheap and moderately effective process is called Home Microdermabrasion. Its creams are available in the market have almost the same effect as the other ways of abrasion and after this, one can see a visible change in the skin color and brightness, with the removal of some upper skin scars also. Still it is not a very advisable process to be used at the best of time.

Ionic Foot Baths, More Than Just A Detox … This Is My Story

February 4th, 2010 · No Comments

When I first started using the ionic foot bath a few years ago there were only a few websites that sold them. Now if you look online, you’ll see pages and pages of them. Go to any one of them and you’ll see testimonials from hundreds of people. You’ll notice that it seems to have different results person to person.

When it comes to ionic detox foot baths, you have your nay sayers and your believers. I am a believer because of my own experience using them. I don’t know about others, I can only tell you with certainty what it did for me and in a short amount of time.

I saw my first foot bath at a clinic and had the typical response of shock at the dirty water. I couldn’t believe that all that muck could come out of a person’s body. After seeing it over and over I was still skeptical. But I did find it strange that the color of the water wasn’t the same for everyone. The most common was dark brown. Some would have very black water, some light to dark brown, one lady had only slightly yellowish water but the most dramatic one I saw was a lady whose water turned green.

My husband found a great site(  http://www.photofacialmachines.com/foot-detox-oxygen-therapy-and-breast-machines/ion-detox-ionic-aqua-foot-bath-spa-chi-cleanse-detox.html)that had a great deal and bought a foot bath for the family. He was completely skeptical but then again, he hadn’t seen all those foot baths I had observed. I wanted to see what it could do for me. At the time I was suffering from arthritis that was painful and debilitating. Because foot baths were so new at the time we bought one, I wasn’t sure what to expect.

I started my sessions twice a week and noticed after several sessions how good I felt and how alert I was right after completing a foot bath. I also realized that my arthritis pain was diminishing and had more range of motion. I hadn’t changed anything I was doing except the foot bath. Boy did I become excited. Anyone who has arthritis knows the constant pain you go through. After my tenth session, the pain was completely gone and I had complete range of motion. My husband was amazed and happy for me. He is a very skeptical man, the type who wants scientific evidence, proof if you will, that the foot bath was actually doing something. Well no one can tell me that the foot bath didn’t work! I really don’t know if I detoxed, but I do know my pain went away.

Over those weeks I was using the machine, I decided to do an experiment. I did a complete session with no feet in the water. I was surprised to see a considerable color change of the water. Huh! I brought my husband over to have a look. The water was definitely dirty. But it wasn’t until I was cleaning out the tub that I noticed something. When I do a foot bath there is a thin slimy film that floats on the top that stains the side of the tub. With my experiment water, it was absent. Interesting! Apparently there is always some discoloration of the water due to electrolysis and minerals in the water, and possibly additional stuff from the body as well with feet in the tub.

I guess my point in all this is that whether or not you believe it works, is entirely dependent on what it is or isn’t doing for you. If you have ever been interested in trying a foot bath, there are lots of chiropractors, beauty spas and salons that can get you started. But give it a chance and do more than just one session. It took a couple of months before real change occurred. If it doesn’t do anything for you then stop. But if you are getting results from it, what ever that might be for you, then keep on going. You never know what changes may be in store for you!

By the way, it is 3 years later and my arthritis never returned. Hallelujah!

Detox Foot Baths, They Worked For Me.

February 1st, 2010 · No Comments

Detox foot baths have become popular in the last few years, and as always with something new, someone’s going come up with an opposing opinion on it. We are now starting to see some negative articles on the subject as I expected would happen. But before you go into agreement with the nay sayers, read the rest of this article before you decide on whether or not this is something for you.

First off, there is a misconception about foot baths I would like to clear up. The unit itself does not detox you! It’s not about detoxing through your feet. Let me explain.

The body has its own electrical impulses that flow through out the body daily. In a normal healthy body this flow goes uninterrupted. However, as toxicity, injury and illness occur the electrical flow can be slowed, rerouted or stopped and one starts to feel bad. The ionic foot bath, which is not a medical device but rather an instrument of assistance, gently puts a current of positive and negative ions into the water which travel throughout the body. Negative ions can create a sense of well being. The goal here is to restore the proper flow of the electrical impulses so that the body can heal itself. It is the benefit after a foot bath that we are interested in.

I have occasionally noticed that when people start on a detox foot bath regimen, they may feel worse afterwards and possibly the next day as well. Detoxing can make you feel that way. Sometimes the opposite occurs and people feel energetic. When the body’s bio-electric energy starts to balance, the body can go into healing mode, that means detoxing so the bodies cells can function as it should.

I know from my own experience that I personally can get very bad breath and a metallic taste the day after a foot bath. My arthritis completely cleared up after about 10 sessions of foot baths and has not returned for more than 2 years. I know without a doubt that it was the foot baths because I didn’t change anything else and felt better and better after each foot bath. Sometimes I would feel so energetic that I would have to go into furious cleaning mode or do something else physical because I felt so good.

Now, let’s address the color change in the water. Pay no attention to the color of the water. With or without feet in the water you will get color change. While it is very interesting to watch, it is not coming out of your body, although if one studied samples of the water there may be minute particles of mucus. The body has its own channels of elimination and that’s all you are trying to accomplish with a foot bath.

I do a foot bath at least once a month for maintenance and I always feel very energetic for days after. You can go to any site that sells foot baths and get real life stories from the people that have been helped by the foot baths. There may be people who have tried it and didn’t get any results from it. That’s ok too.

I do think more studies need to be done, and not just studies of what is in the water, but rather what is it actually doing for the individual. There have been a number of studies done showing the positive effect of negative ions. I would hate to think that nay sayers eventually have their way and ruin another good thing that could potentially help many people.

Don’t be afraid to try it and see what it could possibly do for you!

Body Detox Tips: The Dos and Don’ts

January 1st, 2010 · No Comments

Most people know about detoxing, but do they know that there are things that we should and shouldn’t do? If not, we will share some body detox tips today so that they will know whenever they decide to go on with a detox diet.

First, you DO make sure that you start the detox while relaxed and when you have a couple days off work. Your body should be relaxed, as this is a big shift. It will take your body some getting used to. This is the first and one of the most important body detox tips.

You DO NOT jump into a quick fix detox, just to “flush out” your system in a matter of 3 days. Sure, you can benefit from this and may even lose a little weight, however you really haven’t given yourself much time to get rid of all of the toxins that are in your body.

Another good body detox tip is to make sure that you DO eat “fresh” raw vegetables and fruits. This goes with juices as well.

DO NOT eat fruits and vegetables that are laden with pesticides, because this will defeat the purpose of the detox: to rid your body of chemicals and toxins.

This leads us to the next body detox tip. You DO slow down on your chemical consumption and intake. This includes smoking, drinking alcohol and caffeine.

Make sure that you DO give yourself at least 28 days to take full advantage of the best detox that you can give yourself. This enables you to get adjusted and slowly rid your body of the chemicals and toxins.

DO NOT think that you can get the best detox that some actresses claim to get within a few days. Sure, they may lose weight, but is their body rid of these chemicals?

Another great body detox tip is to make sure that you DO take a vitamin supplement so that your body can have all of the nutrients that it is suppose to have. They also help and aide in the detox process.

DO NOT think that merely consuming good healthy foods is enough nutrients for your body. They are good for you but you need vitamins and minerals as well.

There are many assumptions that people make about detoxing. The best thing to do is to definitely consult a health care professional, as they really know the best for your particular needs. Not to mention, they will be able to recommend the best supplements for you as well.

These body detox tips are a guide for you to be on your way to a healthy new you with a better life style and eating habits. You can chose to get healthy and stay healthy, just know the facts so that you get the best that you possibly can.

Anti-Wrinkle Creams

December 1st, 2009 · No Comments

Anti aging products for oily skin are useful for both men and women, who face the age old problems of oily skin. The products recommended for oily skin usually contain ingredients that reduce oiliness as well as wrinkles. Anti aging wrinkle creams, combined with the anti aging vitamins a great thing to try.

One of the main issues with the artificial anti aging skin care products is that they are expensive and have a short term effect. Anti aging medicine is really a medical specialty as well as means of scientifically researching how to detect, prevent and treat and even reverse signs of aging.

Functional medicine on the other hand is science based and integrative healthcare approach that aims more at treating illnesses and also promoting wellness through studying a patient’s unique bio-chemical makeup and then by tailoring special interventions, functional medicine can restore the patient’s physiological and structural balance.

Retinoid and retinol are some of the ingredients that assist in reducing wrinkles without causing any damage to oily skin. Anti aging skin care has come a long way over the last twenty years. With cutting edge research, there are a variety of products released recently that have proven effective in clinical trials.

Wrinkles form because of a process where a sugar molecules and a protein molecules are bonded together. The location of the wrinkles depends on your facial expressions and many other factors. Wrinkles can hurt someone’s appearance and make them look older. Because of this fact they can be a great annoyance and are met with great concern.

Antioxidants help to fighting against the effects of aging. Particles called free radicals are abundant within our atmosphere, and these particles effectively speed up the aging process.

Antioxidants are potent tools that delay the aging process naturally. Antioxidants are an important piece of any anti aging diet because they release toxins from the body and protect a person’s immune system. And of course, natural antioxidants keep the body firm and the skin glowing.

Healty Skin

November 1st, 2009 · No Comments

Healthy skin is less likely to develop a friction blister. Athletes should avoid chronic dehydration especially during warm weather training or during periods of heavier training efforts. Healthy skin is nothing but reflection of healthy diet and stress-free life. It is important that we spend some time on a regular basis to take care and maintain perfectly glowing and healthy skin. Healthy skin is achieved when individuals take care of themselves from the inside out.

Healthy skin is the most important element of a great looking face. It is not only easy to achieve; it is a critical thing you can do for yourself. Healthy skin is about 75% collagen, and when collagen production slows down, it can really take a toll on your skin in the form of wrinkles and just a general “aged” appearance. Collagen production can also be disrupted when someone loses or gains weight quickly. Healthy skin is all about the food we eat. It is the result of everything going inside our body.

Healthy skin is a barrier between the inside of the body and the outside environment and is the result of several factors. Factors that include a healthy diet, right amount of exercise, good skin care practices, a positive outlook, and a relaxed mind. Vitamin A is a very good vitamin for healthy skin.

Healthy skin is an essential part of health and natural beauty as good skin is a reflection of inner health. Healthy skin is well-moisturized skin. Using moisturizing creams, body milks, and lotions is very good for skin. Healthy skin is sustained by a diet which is rich in fruits, whole grains, plenty of water and fresh vegetables. To be healthy, your skin needs you to get plenty of rest, exercise and make every effort to cut down the stress in your life.

Why use Face Cream

October 3rd, 2009 · No Comments

Face Cream

Face Cream contains targeted botanical ingredients specifically formulated to counter these advanced skincare concerns. Face creams should contain emollients such as jojoba and lanolin, which moisturize the skin. A face cream might also contain anti-irritants and antioxidants.

After using face cream your skin feels revived and looks healthier. Skin is the body’s largest organ—which makes taking care of it that much more important, especially when it comes to your face. Obsessions with beauty or youth aside, if what you see when you look in the mirror matters to you, then using a moisturizer is most likely already part of your daily routine.

Antioxidants fight premature signs of aging, enhance the immune system and aid in preventing health problems such as heart disease and cancer. They do this by protecting against free radicals, which are byproducts of the body’s oxygen use and other natural processes. Anti aging face creams that are loaded with vitamin K and are known to produce reasonable reduction in facial bruising and spider veining that can happen with age. Anti-aging skin care products tend to approach the issue of aging from various angles. The skin is obviously the primary focus, since dull, wrinkled skin is a dead giveaway.

Antioxidants also fight the signs of aging and promote overall healthy skin. Antioxidants have shown in several studies to repair much free radical damage from the inside as well as the outside of the body.

Eye creams don’t usually contain any fragrance, and tend to be more emollient than regular moisturizers. Day creams are designed to enhance the appearance of your existing wrinkles or stretch marks, simply return the unused portion within 30 days for a full, prompt refund, no questions asked.
